Parashat Text with Readers and Daily Portions (Reader 1 Starts on Saturday Evening)

Shemot “Names”
Ex 1:1 – 6:1 , Jer 1:1 – 2:3

Reader 1 (Saturday Evening Portion)

Exo 1:1 Now these are the names of the children of Yisra’el, which came into Mitzrayim;
every man and his household came with Ya’akov.
Exo 1:2 Re’uven, Shim’on, Levi, and Yahudah,
Exo 1:3 Yissakhar, Zevulun, and Benyamin,
Exo 1:4 Dan, and Naftali, Gad, and Asher.
Exo 1:5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Ya’akov were seventy souls: for Yosef
was in Mitzrayim already.
Exo 1:6 And Yosef died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
Exo 1:7 And the children of Yisra’el were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied,
and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

(Sunday Morning Portion)

Exo 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Mitzrayim, which knew not * Yosef.
Exo 1:9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Yisra’el are more
and mightier than we:
Exo 1:10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that,
when there falls out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so
get them up out of the land.
Exo 1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens.
And they built for Par’oh treasure cities, * Pitom and Ra’meses.
Exo 1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they
were grieved because of the children of Yisra’el.
Exo 1:13 And the Mitzrayim made * the children of Yisra’el to serve with rigor:
Exo 1:14 And they made * their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and
in all manner of service in the field: * all their service, where they made them serve, was with
rigor.
Exo 1:15 And the king of Mitzrayim spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the
one was Shifrah, and the name of the other Pu’ah:
Exo 1:16 And he said, When you do the office of a midwife to * the Hebrew women, and see
them upon the stools; if it be a son, then you shall kill him: but if it is a daughter, then she
shall live.
Exo 1:17 But the midwives feared * Elohim, and did not as the king of Mitzrayim
commanded them, but saved * the men children alive.

Reader 2 (Sunday Evening Portion)

Exo 1:18 And the king of Mitzrayim called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have
you done this thing, and have saved * the men children alive?
Exo 1:19 And the midwives said unto Par’oh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the
Mitzrayim women; for they are lively, and are delivered before the midwives come in unto
them.
Exo 1:20 Therefore Elohim dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and
waxed very mighty.
Exo 1:21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared * Elohim, that He made them
houses.
Exo 1:22 And Par’oh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born you shall cast into
the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.

(Monday Morning Portion)

Exo 2:1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took * to wife a daughter of Levi.
Exo 2:2 And the woman conceived, and bore a son: and when she saw him that he was a
goodly child, she hid him three months.
Exo 2:3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and
daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put * the child therein; and she laid it in the flags
by the river’s brink.
Exo 2:4 And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him.
Exo 2:5 And the daughter of Par’oh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens
walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw * the ark among the flags, she sent * her
maid to fetch it.
Exo 2:6 And when she had opened it, she saw * the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And
she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
Exo 2:7 Then said his sister to Par’oh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to you a nurse of the
Hebrew women, that she may nurse * the child for you?
Exo 2:8 And Par’oh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s *
mother.
Exo 2:9 And Par’oh’s daughter said unto her, Take * this child away, and nurse it for me, and
I will give * you your wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
Exo 2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Par’oh’s daughter, and he became
her son. And she called his name Moshe: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Reader 3 (Monday Evening Portion)

Exo 2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moshe was grown, that he went out unto
his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied a Mitzrayim smiting a Hebrew, one
of his brethren.
Exo 2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he
slew * the Mitzrayim, and hid him in the sand.
Exo 2:13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove
together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Why smite you your fellow?
Exo 2:14 And he said, Who made you a prince and a judge over us? intend you to kill me, as
you killed * the Mitzrayim? And Moshe feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
Exo 2:15 Now when Par’oh heard this * thing, he sought to slay * Moshe. But Moshe fled
from the face of Par’oh, and dwelt in the land of Midyan: and he sat down by a well.

(Tuesday Morning Portion)

Exo 2:16 Now the priest of Midyan had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and
filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
Exo 2:17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moshe stood up and helped
them, and watered * their flock.
Exo 2:18 And when they came to Re’u’el their father, he said, How is it that you are come so
soon today?
Exo 2:19 And they said, A Mitzrayim delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also
drew water enough for us, and watered * the flock.
Exo 2:20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that you have left * the
man? call him, that he may eat bread.
Exo 2:21 And Moshe was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moshe * Tzipporah his
daughter.
Exo 2:22 And she bore him a son, and he called * his name Gershom: for he said, I have
been a stranger in a strange land.
Exo 2:23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Mitzrayim died: and the
children of Yisra’el sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up
unto Elohim by reason of the bondage.
Exo 2:24 And Elohim heard * their groaning, and Elohim remembered * His covenant with
Avraham, with Yitzchak, and with Ya’akov.
Exo 2:25 And Elohim looked upon * the children of Yisra’el, and Elohim had observed them.

Reader 4 (Tuesday Evening Portion)

Exo 3:1 Now Moshe kept * the flock of Yitro his father in law, the priest of Midyan: and he
led * the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of Elohim, even to
Chorev.
Exo 3:2 And the angel of YHWH appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a
bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not
consumed.
Exo 3:3 And Moshe said, I will now turn aside, and see this great * sight, why the bush is not
burnt.
Exo 3:4 And when YHWH saw that he turned aside to see, Elohim called unto him out of the
midst of the bush, and said, Moshe, Moshe. And he said, Here am I.
Exo 3:5 And He said, Draw not near here: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place
whereon you stand is holy ground.
Exo 3:6 Moreover He said, I am the Elohim of your father, the Elohim of Avraham, the
Elohim of Yitzchak, and the Elohim of Ya’akov. And Moshe hid his face; for he was afraid to
look upon Elohim.

(Wednesday Morning Portion)

Exo 3:7 And YHWH said, I have surely seen * the affliction of my people which are in
Mitzrayim, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know * their
sorrows;
Exo 3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Mitzrayim, and to bring
them up out of that land unto a good land and large, unto a land flowing with milk and
honey; unto the place of the Kena’ani, and the Chitti, and the Amori, and the Perizzi, and the
Chivi, and the Yevusi.
Exo 3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Yisra’el is come unto me: and I
have also seen * the oppression where the Mitzrayim oppress them.
Exo 3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send you unto Par’oh, that you may bring forth *
my people the children of Yisra’el out of Mitzrayim.
Exo 3:11 And Moshe said unto Elohim, Who am I, that I should go unto Par’oh, and that I
should bring forth * the children of Yisra’el out of Mitzrayim?
Exo 3:12 And He said, Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be a token unto you, that I
have sent you: When you have brought forth * the people out of Mitzrayim, you shall serve *
Elohim upon this mountain.
Exo 3:13 And Moshe said unto Elohim, Behold, when I come unto the children of Yisra’el,
and shall say unto them, The Elohim of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall
say to me, What is His name? what shall I say unto them?
Exo 3:14 And Elohim said unto Moshe, I AM THAT I AM (Hayah asher HaYah): and He
said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Yisra’el, I AM (HaYah) has sent me unto you.
Exo 3:15 And Elohim said moreover unto Moshe, Thus shall you say unto the children of
Yisra’el, YHWH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitzchak, and
the Elohim of Ya’akov, has sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my
memorial unto all generations.

Reader 5 (Wednesday Evening Portion)

Exo 3:16 Go, and gather * the elders of Yisra’el together, and say unto them, YHWH Elohim
of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, of Yitzchak, and of Ya’akov, appeared unto me,
saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Mitzrayim:
Exo 3:17 And I have said, I will bring you up * out of the affliction of Mitzrayim unto the
land of the Kena’ani, and the Chitti, and the Amori, and the Perizzi, and the Chivvi, and the
Yevusi, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
Exo 3:18 And they shall hearken to your voice: and you shall come, you and the elders of
Yisra’el, unto the king of Mitzrayim, and you shall say unto him, YHWH Elohim of the
Hebrews has met with us: and now let us go, we beseech you, three days’ journey into the
wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHWH our Elohim.
Exo 3:19 And I am sure that the king of Mitzrayim will not let you go, no, not by a mighty
hand.
Exo 3:20 And I will stretch out * my hand, and smite * Mitzrayim with all my wonders
which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
Exo 3:21 And I will give this people * favor in the sight of the Mitzrayim: and it shall come to
pass, that, when you go, you shall not go empty:
Exo 3:22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her that sojourns in her house,
jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and you shall put them upon your sons, and
upon your daughters; and you shall spoil * the Mitzrayim.
Exo 4:1 And Moshe answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken
unto my voice: for they will say, YHWH has not appeared unto you.
Exo 4:2 And YHWH said unto him, What is that in your hand? And he said, A rod.
Exo 4:3 And He said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a
serpent; and Moshe fled from before it.
Exo 4:4 And YHWH said unto Moshe, Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail. And he
put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
Exo 4:5 That they may believe that YHWH Elohim of their fathers, the Elohim of Avraham,
the Elohim of Yitzchak, and the Elohim of Ya’akov, has appeared unto you.
Exo 4:6 And YHWH said furthermore unto him, Put now your hand into your bosom. And
he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as
snow.
Exo 4:7 And He said, Put your hand into your bosom again. And he put his hand into his
bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other
flesh.
Exo 4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of
the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
Exo 4:9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the
dry land: and the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry
land.

(Thursday Morning Portion)

even before then , nor since you have spoken unto your servant: but I am slow of speech,
and of a slow tongue.
Exo 4:11 And YHWH said unto him, Who has made man’s mouth? or who makes the dumb,
or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I YHWH?
Exo 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall say.
Exo 4:13 And he said, O my Adonai, [send, I pray you, by the hand whom you will send.]
Exo 4:14 And the anger of YHWH was kindled against Moshe, and He said, Is not Aharon

meet you: and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
Exo 4:15 And you shall speak unto him, and put * words in his mouth: and I will be with
your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach * you what you shall do.
Exo 4:16 And he shall be your spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be
to you instead of a mouth, and you shall be to him instead of Elohim.
Exo 4:17 And you shall take this rod in your hand, where you shall do * signs.

Reader 6 (Thursday Evening Portion)

Exo 4:19 And YHWH said unto Moshe in Midyan, Go, return into Mitzrayim: for all the men
are dead which sought * your life.
Exo 4:20 And Moshe took * his wife and his sons, and set them upon a donkey, and he
returned to the land of Mitzrayim: and Moshe took * the rod of Elohim in his hand.
Exo 4:21 And YHWH said unto Moshe, When you go to return into Mitzrayim, see that you
do all those wonders before Par’oh, which I have put in your hand: but I will harden * his
heart, that he shall not * let the people go.
Exo 4:22 And you shall say unto Par’oh, Thus saith YHWH, Yisra’el is my son, even my
firstborn:
Exo 4:23 And I say unto * you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let
him go, behold, I will slay * your son, even your firstborn.
Exo 4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that YHWH met him, and sought to kill
him.
Exo 4:25 Then Tzipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off * the foreskin of her son, and cast it

Exo 4:31 And the people believed: and when they heard that YHWH had visited * the
children of Yisra’el, and that He had looked upon * their affliction, then they bowed their
heads and worshipped.

Reader 7 (6th Day Friday Morning Double Portion)

Exo 5:1 And afterward Moshe and Aharon went in, and told Par’oh, Thus saith YHWH
Elohim of Yisra’el, * Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
Exo 5:2 And Par’oh said, Who is YHWH, that I should obey his voice * to let Yisra’el go? I
know not * YHWH, neither * will I let Yisra’el go.
Exo 5:3 And they said, The Elohim of the Hebrews has met with us: let us go, we pray you,
three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto YHWH our Elohim; lest He fall upon
us with pestilence, or with the sword.
Exo 5:4 And the king of Mitzrayim said unto them, Why do you, Moshe and Aharon, let *
the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
Exo 5:5 And Par’oh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and you make them
rest * from their burdens.
Exo 5:6 And Par’oh commanded the same day * the taskmasters of the people, and their
officers, saying,
Exo 5:7 You shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as before: let them go and
gather straw for themselves.
Exo 5:8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make before, you shall lay upon them; you
shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and
sacrifice to our Elohim.
Exo 5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labor therein; and let
them not regard vain words.
Exo 5:10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to
the people, saying, Thus saith Par’oh, I will not give you straw.
Exo 5:11 Go you, get you straw where you can find it: yet not a word of your work shall be
diminished.
Exo 5:12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Mitzrayim to gather
stubble instead of straw.
Exo 5:13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as
when there was straw.
Exo 5:14 And the officers of the children of Yisra’el, which Par’oh’s taskmasters had set over
them, were beaten, and demanded, Why have you not fulfilled your task in making brick
both yesterday and today, as before?
Exo 5:15 Then the officers of the children of Yisra’el came and cried unto Par’oh, saying,
Why deal you thus with your servants?
Exo 5:16 There is no straw given unto your servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and,
behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.
Exo 5:17 But he said, You are idle, you are idle: therefore you say, Let us go and do sacrifice
to YHWH.
Exo 5:18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall you
deliver the tale of bricks.
Exo 5:19 And the officers of the children of Yisra’el did see that they were in evil case, after it
was said, You shall not diminish from your bricks of your daily task.
Exo 5:20 And they met * Moshe and Aharon, who stood in the way, as they came forth from
Par’oh:
Exo 5:21 And they said unto them, YHWH look upon you, and judge; because you have
made * our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Par’oh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put
a sword in their hand to slay us.
Exo 5:22 And Moshe returned unto YHWH, and said, Adonai, why have you so evil
entreated this people? why is it that you have sent me?
Exo 5:23 For since I came to Par’oh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people;
neither have you delivered * your people at all.
Exo 6:1 Then YHWH said unto Moshe, Now shall you see what I will do to Par’oh: for with a
strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.

inhabitants of the land.
Jer 1:15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith YHWH; and

command you: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them.

walls against the whole land, against the kings of Yahudah, against the princes thereof,
against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
Jer 1:19 And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with
you, saith YHWH, to deliver you.

Jer 2:2 Go and cry in the ears of Yahrushalayim, saying, Thus saith YHWH; I remember
you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your espousals, when you went after me in the
wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
Jer 2:3 Yisra’el was holiness unto YHWH, and the firstfruits of His increase: all that devour
him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith YHWH.
