Deut 21:10 – 25:19 , Isaiah 54:1 – 10

Reader 1 (Saturday Evening Portion)

Deu 21:10 When you go forth to war against your enemies, and YHWH your Elohim has
delivered them into your hands, and you have taken them captive,
Deu 21:11 And see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire unto her, that you
would have her to your wife;
Deu 21:12 Then you shall bring her home to your house; and she shall shave * her head, and
pare * her nails;
Deu 21:13 And she shall put * the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in your
house, and bewail * her father and her mother a full month: and after that you shall go in
unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.
Deu 21:14 And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she will;
but you shall not sell her at all for money, you shall not make merchandise of her, because
you have humbled her.
(Sunday Morning Portion)
Deu 21:15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have bore him
children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
Deu 21:16 Then it shall be, when he makes his sons to inherit * that which he has, he may not
make * the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the
firstborn:
Deu 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated * for the firstborn, by giving him a
double portion of all that he has: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the
firstborn is his.
Deu 21:18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his
father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken
unto them:
Deu 21:19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out * unto the
elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
Deu 21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious,
he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
Deu 21:21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shall you put
evil away from among you; and all Yisra’el shall hear, and fear.

Deu 21:22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and
you hang him on a tree:
Deu 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall in any wise bury him
that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of Elohim;) that * your land be not defiled, which
YHWH your Elohim gives you for an inheritance.
Deu 22:1 You shall not see * your brother’s ox or * his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from
them: you shall in any case bring them again unto your brother.
Deu 22:2 And if your brother be not near unto you, or if you know him not, then you shall bring
it unto your own house, and it shall be with you until your brother seek after it, and you shall
restore it to him again.
Deu 22:3 In like manner shall you do with his donkey; and so shall you do with his raiment;
and with all lost things of your brother’s, which he has lost, and you have found, shall you do
likewise: you may not hide yourself.
Deu 22:4 You shall not see * your brother’s donkey or his ox fall down by the way, and hide
yourself from them: you shall surely help him to lift them up again.

Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on
a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto YHWH your Elohim.
Deu 22:6 If a bird’s nest chance to be before you in the way in any tree, or on the ground, young
ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, you shall not take the
dam with the young:
Deu 22:7 But you shall in any wise * let the dam go, and take the young to you; that it may be
well with you, and that you may prolong your days.
Reader 3 (Monday Evening Portion)
Deu 22:8 When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you
bring not blood upon your house, if any man fall from there.
Deu 22:9 You shall not sow your vineyard with diverse seeds: lest the fruit of your seed which
you have sown, and the fruit of your vineyard, be defiled.
Deu 22:10 You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.
Deu 22:11 You shall not wear a garment of diverse sorts, as of wool and linen together.
Deu 22:12 You shall make you fringes upon the four extremities of your covering, wherewith
you cover yourself.
Deu 22:13 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
Deu 22:14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and
say, I took * this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a virgin:
Deu 22:15 Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth * the tokens
of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Deu 22:16 And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave * my daughter unto this man
to wife, and he hates her;
Deu 22:17 And, lo, he has given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not your
daughter a virgin; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall
spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
Deu 22:18 And the elders of that city shall take * that man and chastise him;
Deu 22:19 And they shall fine him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father
of the damsel, because he has brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Yisra’el: and she
shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
Deu 22:20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
Deu 22:21 Then they shall bring out * the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men
of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she has wrought folly in Yisra’el,
to play the whore in her father’s house: so shall you put evil away from among you.
(Tuesday Morning Portion)
Deu 22:22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of
them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shall you put away evil from
Yisra’el.
Deu 22:23 If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the
city, and lie with her;
Deu 22:24 [Then you shall bring forth * both] unto the gate of that city, and you shall stone
them with stones that they die; * the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the
man, because he has humbled * his neighbor’s wife: so you shall put away evil from among
you.
Deu 22:25 But if a man find * a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie
with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
Deu 22:26 But unto the damsel you shall do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of
death: for as when a man rises against his neighbor, and slays him, even so is this matter:
Deu 22:27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to
save her.
Deu 22:28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her,
and lie with her, and they be found;
Deu 22:29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of
silver, and she shall be his wife; because he has humbled her, he may not put her away all his
days.
Deu 22:30 A man shall not take * his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.
Deu 23:1 He that is wounded in the stones, or has his privy member cut off, shall not enter into
the congregation of YHWH.
Deu 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of YHWH; even to his tenth
generation shall he not enter into the congregation of YHWH.
Deu 23:3 An Ammoni or Moavi shall not enter into the congregation of YHWH; even to their
tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of YHWH forever:
Deu 23:4 Because they met you * not with bread and with water in the way, when you came
forth out of Mitzrayim; and because they hired against you Bilam the son of Be’or of Petor of
Mesopotamia, to curse you.
Deu 23:5 Nevertheless YHWH your Elohim would not hearken unto Bil’am; but YHWH your
Elohim turned * the curse into a blessing unto you, because YHWH your Elohim loved you.
Deu 23:6 You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days forever.
Deu 23:7 You shall not abhor an Edomi; for he is your brother: you shall not abhor a
Mitzrayim; because you ware a stranger in his land.
Deu 23:8 The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of YHWH in
their third generation.
Reader 4 (Tuesday Evening Portion)
Deu 23:9 When the host goes forth against your enemies, then keep you from every wicked
thing.
Deu 23:10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that
chances him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the
camp:
Deu 23:11 But it shall be, when evening comes on, he shall wash with water: and when the sun
is down, he shall come into the camp.
Deu 23:12 You shall have a place also outside the camp, where you shall go forth abroad:
Deu 23:13 And you shall have a paddle upon your weapon; and it shall be, when you will ease
yourself abroad, you shall dig therewith, and shall turn back and cover * that which comes
from you:
Deu 23:14 For YHWH your Elohim walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give
up your enemies before you; therefore shall your camp be holy: that He see no unclean thing
in you, and turn away from you.
Deu 23:15 You shall not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master
unto you:
Deu 23:16 He shall dwell with you, among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of
your gates, where it likes him best: you shall not oppress him.
(Wednesday Morning Portion)
Deu 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Yisra’el, nor a sodomite of the sons of
Yisra’el.
Deu 23:18 You shall not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of
YHWH your Elohim for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto YHWH your
Elohim.
Deu 23:19 You shall not lend upon usury to your brother; usury of money, usury of victuals,
usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:
Deu 23:20 Unto a stranger you may lend upon usury; but unto your brother you shall not lend
upon usury: that YHWH your Elohim may bless you in all that you set your hand to in the
land where you go to possess it.
Deu 23:21 When you shall vow a vow unto YHWH your Elohim, you shall not slack to pay it: for
YHWH your Elohim will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you.
Deu 23:22 But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you.
Deu 23:23 That which is gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform; a freewill offering,
according as you have vowed unto YHWH your Elohim, which you have promised with your
mouth.
Deu 23:24 When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat grapes to your fill
at your own pleasure; but you shall not put any in your vessel.
Reader 5 (Wednesday Evening Portion)
Deu 23:25 When you come into the standing grain of your neighbor, then you may pluck the
ears with your hand; but you shall not move a sickle unto your neighbor’s standing grain.
(Thursday Morning Portion)
Deu 24:1 When a man has taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no
favor in his eyes, because he has found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill
of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
Deu 24:2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.
Deu 24:3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and gives it in
her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be
his wife;
Deu 24:4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after
that she is defiled; for that is abomination before YHWH: and you shall not cause * the land
to sin, which YHWH your Elohim gives you for an inheritance.
Reader 6 (Thursday Evening Portion)
Deu 24:5 When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be
charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up * his
wife which he has taken.
Deu 24:6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he takes a man’s
life to pledge.
Deu 24:7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Yisra’el, and makes
merchandise of him, or sells him; then that thief shall die; and you shall put evil away from
among you.
Deu 24:8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that you observe diligently, and do according to all
that the priests the Levi’im shall teach you: as I commanded them, you shall observe to do.
Deu 24:9 Remember * what YHWH your Elohim did unto Miryam by the way, after that you
were come forth out of Mitzrayim.
Deu 24:10 When you do lend your brother any thing, you shall not go into his house to fetch his
pledge.
Deu 24:11 You shall stand abroad, and the man to whom you do lend shall bring out * the
pledge abroad unto you.
Deu 24:12 And if the man be poor, you shall not sleep with his pledge:
Deu 24:13 In any case you shall deliver him * the pledge again when the sun goes down, that he
may sleep in his own raiment, and bless you: and it shall be righteousness unto you before
YHWH your Elohim.
Reader 7 (6th Day Friday Morning Double Portion)
Deu 24:14 You shall not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, of your brethren, or of
your strangers that are in your land within your gates:
Deu 24:15 At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is
poor, and sets * his heart upon it: lest he cry against you unto YHWH, and it be sin unto you.
Deu 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be
put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Deu 24:17 You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a
widow’s raiment to pledge:
Deu 24:18 But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Mitzrayim, and YHWH your
Elohim redeemed you there: therefore I command you to do * this thing.
Deu 24:19 When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field,
you shall not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the
widow: that YHWH your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hands.
Deu 24:20 When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again: it shall be for
the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
Deu 24:21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward: it
shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
Deu 24:22 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Mitzrayim:
therefore I command you to do * this thing.
Deu 25:1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges
may judge them; then they shall justify * the righteous, and condemn * the wicked.
Deu 25:2 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause
him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.
Deu 25:3 Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, he should exceed, and beat him
above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile unto you.
Deu 25:4 You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
Deu 25:5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the
dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in unto her,
and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother unto her.
Deu 25:6 And it shall be, that the firstborn which she bears shall succeed in the name of his
brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Yisra’el.
Deu 25:7 And if the man like not to take * his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to
the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuses to raise up unto his brother
a name in Yisra’el, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.
Deu 25:8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and
say, I like not to take her;
Deu 25:9 Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose
his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done
unto that man that will not build up * his brother’s house.
Deu 25:10 And his name shall be called in Yisra’el, The house of him that has his shoe loosed.
Deu 25:11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near for to
deliver * her husband out of the hand of him that smites him, and puts forth her hand, and
takes him by the secrets:
Deu 25:12 Then you shall cut off * her hand, your eye shall not pity her.
Deu 25:13 You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
Deu 25:14 You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.
Deu 25:15 But you shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shall you
have: that your days may be lengthened in the land which YHWH your Elohim gives you.
Deu 25:16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto
YHWH your Elohim.
Deu 25:17 Remember * what Amalek did unto you by the way, when you were come forth out of
Mitzrayim;
Deu 25:18 How he met you by the way, and smote the hindmost of you, all that were feeble
behind you, when you ware faint and weary; and he feared not Elohim.
Deu 25:19 Therefore it shall be, when YHWH your Elohim has given you rest from all your
enemies round about, in the land which YHWH your Elohim gives you for an inheritance to
possess it, you shall blot out * the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not
forget it.
Haftarah (Shabbat Evening Portion)
Isa 54:1 Sing, O barren, you that did not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you that
did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the
married wife, saith YHWH.
Isa 54:2 Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your
habitations: spare not, lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes;
Isa 54:3 For you shall break forth on the right hand and on the left; and your seed shall inherit
the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Isa 54:4 Fear not; for you shall not be ashamed: neither be you confounded; for you shall not be
put to shame: for you shall forget the shame of your youth, and shall not remember the
reproach of your widowhood any more.
Isa 54:5 For your Maker is your husband; YHWH Tsebeoath is His name; and your Redeemer
the Holy One of Yisra’el; The Elohim of the whole earth shall He be called.
Isa 54:6 For YHWH has called you as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of
youth, when you were refused, saith your Elohim.
Isa 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you.
Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness
will I have mercy on you, saith YHWH your Redeemer.
Isa 54:9 For this is as the waters of Noach unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of
Noach should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with
you, nor rebuke you.
Isa 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not
depart from you, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith YHWH that has
mercy on you.
