Parashat Text with Readers and Daily Portions (Reader 1 Starts on Saturday Evening)

Ha’azinu “Give Ear”

Deut 32:1 – 52 , 2 Samuel 22:1 – 51

Reader 1 (Saturday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:1 Give ear, O you heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

Deu 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain

upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

Deu 32:3 Because I will publish the name of YHWH: ascribe you greatness unto our Elohim.

Deu 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a Elohim of truth

and without lawlessness, just and right is He.

(Sunday Morning Portion)

Deu 32:5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of His children: they are a

perverse and crooked generation.

Deu 32:6 Do you thus treat YHWH, O foolish people and unwise? is not He your father that has

bought you? has He not made you, and established you?

Reader 2 (Sunday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask your father,

and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you.

Deu 32:8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the

sons of Adawm, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of

Yisra’el.

Deu 32:9 For YHWH’S portion is His people; Ya’akov is the lot of His inheritance.

(Monday Morning Portion)

Deu 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him

about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.

Deu 32:11 As an eagle stirs up her nest, fluttering over her young, spreading abroad her wings,

taking them, bearing them on her wings:

Deu 32:12 So YHWH alone did lead him, and there was no strange elohim with him.

Reader 3 (Monday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of

the fields; and He made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

Deu 32:14 Butter of cattle, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of

Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and you did drink the pure blood of the

grape.

(Tuesday Morning Portion)

Deu 32:15 But Yeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: you are waxed fat, you are grown thick, you are

covered with fatness; then he forsook Elohim which made him, and lightly esteemed the

Rock of his salvation.

Deu 32:16 They provoked Him to jealousy with strange elohim, with abominations provoked

they Him to anger.

Deu 32:17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to Elohim; to elohim whom they knew not, to new

elohim that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

Deu 32:18 Of the Rock that begat you you are unmindful, and have forgotten Elohim that

formed you.

Reader 4 (Tuesday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:19 And when YHWH saw it, He abhorred them, because of the provoking of His sons,

and of His daughters.

Deu 32:20 And He said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for

they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faith.

Deu 32:21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not elohim; they have provoked

me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a

people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

Deu 32:22 For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall

consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Deu 32:23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them.

Deu 32:24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter

destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the

dust.

Deu 32:25 The sword outside, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the

virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

(Wednesday Morning Portion)

Deu 32:26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to

cease from among men:

Deu 32:27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave

themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and YHWH has not done

all this.

Deu 32:28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

Reader 5 (Thursday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their

latter end!

Deu 32:30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their

Rock had sold them, and YHWH had shut them up?

Deu 32:31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

Deu 32:32 For their vine is of the vine of Sedom, and of the fields of Amorrah: their grapes are

grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

Deu 32:33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Deu 32:34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

Deu 32:35 To me belongs vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the

day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

(Morning Portion)

Deu 32:36 For YHWH shall judge his people, and repent Himself for His servants, when He

sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

Deu 32:37 And He shall say, Where are their elohim, their rock in whom they trusted,

Deu 32:38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings?

let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

Deu 32:39 See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no elohim with me: I kill, and I make

alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

Reader 6 (Thursday Evening Portion)

Deu 32:40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live forever.

Deu 32:41 If I wet my glittering sword, and my hand take hold on judgment; I will render

vengeance to my enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

Deu 32:42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that

with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the

enemy.

Deu 32:43 Rejoice, O you nations, with His people: for He will avenge the blood of His

servants, and will render vengeance to His adversaries, and will be merciful unto His land,

and to His people.

Reader 7 (6th Day Friday Morning Double Portion)

Deu 32:44 And Moshe came and spoke * all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he,

and Hoshea the son of Nun.

Deu 32:45 And Moshe made an end of speaking * all these words to all Yisra’el:

Deu 32:46 And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you

this day, which you shall command * your children to observe to do, * all the words of this

law.

Deu 32:47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing you

shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over * Yarden to possess it.

Deu 32:48 And YHWH spoke unto Moshe that selfsame day, saying,

Deu 32:49 Get you up into this mountain Avarim, unto mount Nevo, which is in the land of

Mo’av, that is over against Yericho; and behold * the land of Kena’an, which I give unto the

children of Yisra’el for a possession:

Deu 32:50 And die in the mount where you go up, and be gathered unto your people; as Aharon

your brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:

Deu 32:51 Because you trespassed against me among the children of Yisra’el at the waters of

Merivah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Tzin; because you sanctified me not in the midst of the

children of Yisra’el.

Deu 32:52 Yet you shall see * the land before you; but you shall not go there unto the land

which I give the children of Yisra’el.

Haftarah (Shabbat Evening Portion)

2Sa 22:1 And Dawid spoke unto YHWH * the words of this song in the day that YHWH had

delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Sha’ul:

2Sa 22:2 And he said, YHWH is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

2Sa 22:3 The Elohim of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my

salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.

2Sa 22:4 I will call on YHWH, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my

enemies.

2Sa 22:5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

2Sa 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

2Sa 22:7 In my distress I called upon YHWH, and cried to my Elohim: and He did hear my

voice out of His temple, and my cry did enter into His ears.

2Sa 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook,

because He was wroth.

2Sa 22:9 There went up a smoke out of His nostrils, and fire out of His mouth devoured: coals

were kindled by it.

2Sa 22:10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under His feet.

2Sa 22:11 And He rode upon a keruv, and did fly: and He was seen upon the wings of the wind.

2Sa 22:12 And He made darkness pavilions round about Him, dark waters, and thick clouds of

the skies.

2Sa 22:13 Through the brightness before Him were coals of fire kindled.

2Sa 22:14 YHWH thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered His voice.

2Sa 22:15 And He sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.

2Sa 22:16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered,

at the rebuking of YHWH, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

2Sa 22:17 He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters;

2Sa 22:18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were

too strong for me.

2Sa 22:19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but YHWH was my stay.

2Sa 22:20 He brought me forth also into a large place: * He delivered me, because He delighted

in me.

2Sa 22:21 YHWH rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of

my hands has He recompensed me.

2Sa 22:22 For I have kept the ways of YHWH, and have not wickedly departed from my Elohim.

2Sa 22:23 For all His judgments were before me: and as for His statutes, I did not depart from

them.

2Sa 22:24 I was also upright before Him, and have kept myself from my lawlessness.

2Sa 22:25 Therefore YHWH has recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to

my cleanness in His eye sight.

2Sa 22:26 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful, and with the upright man you will

show yourself upright.

2Sa 22:27 With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the perverse you will show

yourself unsavory.

2Sa 22:28 And the afflicted people you will save: but your eyes are upon the haughty, that you

may bring them down.

2Sa 22:29 For you are my lamp, O YHWH: and YHWH will lighten my darkness.

2Sa 22:30 For by you I have run through a troop: by my Elohim have I leaped over a wall.

2Sa 22:31 As for Elohim, His way is perfect; the word of YHWH is tried: He is a buckler to all

them that trust in Him.

2Sa 22:32 For who is Elohim, save YHWH? and who is a rock, save our Elohim?

2Sa 22:33 Elohim is my strength and power: and He makes my way perfect.

2Sa 22:34 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet: and sets me upon my high places.

2Sa 22:35 He teaches my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.

2Sa 22:36 You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your gentleness has made

me great.

2Sa 22:37 You have enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

2Sa 22:38 I have pursued my enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had

consumed them.

2Sa 22:39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they

are fallen under my feet.

2Sa 22:40 For you have girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me have

you subdued under me.

2Sa 22:41 You have also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate

me.

2Sa 22:42 They looked, but there was none to save; even unto YHWH, but He answered them

not.

2Sa 22:43 Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire

of the street, and did spread them abroad.

2Sa 22:44 You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people, you have kept me to be

head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

2Sa 22:45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be

obedient unto me.

2Sa 22:46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.

2Sa 22:47 YHWH lives; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the Elohim of the rock of my

salvation.

2Sa 22:48 It is Elohim that avenges me, and that brings down the people under me,

2Sa 22:49 And that brings me forth from my enemies: you also have lifted me up on high above

them that rose up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man.

2Sa 22:50 Therefore I will give thanks unto you, O YHWH, among the heathen, and I will sing

praises unto your name.

2Sa 22:51 He is the tower of salvation for His king: and shows mercy to His anointed, unto

Dawid, and to His seed for evermore.
