Lev 16:1 – 20:27 , Ezekiel 20:2 – 20

Reader 1 (Saturday Evening Portion)

Lev 16:1 And YHWH spoke unto Moshe after the death of the two sons of Aharon, when they
offered before YHWH, and died;
Lev 16:2 And YHWH said unto Moshe, Speak unto Aharon your brother, that he come not at all
times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he
die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
Lev 16:3 Thus shall Aharon come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering,
and a ram for a burnt offering.
Lev 16:4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh,
and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are
holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.
Lev 16:5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Yisra’el two kids of the goats
for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
Lev 16:6 And Aharon shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make
an atonement for himself, and for his house.
Lev 16:7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before YHWH at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation.
Lev 16:8 And Aharon shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for YHWH, and the other lot for
the scapegoat.
Lev 16:9 And Aharon shall bring the goat upon which YHWH’S lot fell, and offer him for a sin
offering.
Lev 16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before
YHWH, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the
wilderness.
Lev 16:11 And Aharon shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall
make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin
offering which is for himself:
Lev 16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before
YHWH, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
Lev 16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before YHWH, that the cloud of the
incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

(Sunday Morning Portion)

Lev 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the
mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger
seven times.
Lev 16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his
blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and
sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Lev 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the
children of Yisra’el, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do
for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remains among them in the midst of their
uncleanness.
Lev 16:17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goes in to
make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for
himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Yisra’el.
Lev 16:18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before YHWH, and make an atonement for
it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the
horns of the altar round about.
Lev 16:19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it,
and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Yisra’el.
Lev 16:20 And when he has made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the
congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
Lev 16:21 And Aharon shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over
him all the lawlessness of the children of Yisra’el, and all their transgressions in all their
sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit
man into the wilderness:
Lev 16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their lawlessness unto a land not inhabited: and
he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them
there:

was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth outside the camp;
and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
Lev 16:28 And he that burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and
afterward he shall come into the camp.
Lev 16:29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth
day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of

(Monday Morning Portion)

Lev 17:1 And YHWH spoke unto Moshe, saying,
Lev 17:2 Speak unto Aharon, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Yisra’el, and say
unto them; This is the thing which YHWH has commanded, saying,
Lev 17:3 What man soever there be of the house of Yisra’el, that kills an ox, or lamb, or goat, in
the camp, or that kills it outside of the camp,
Lev 17:4 And brings it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an
offering unto YHWH before the tabernacle of YHWH; blood shall be imputed unto that
man; he has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:
Lev 17:5 To the end that the children of Yisra’el may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in
the open field, even that they may bring them unto YHWH, unto the door of the tabernacle
of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto YHWH.
Lev 17:6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of YHWH at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto YHWH.
Lev 17:7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a
whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

Reader 3 (Monday Evening Portion)

Lev 17:8 And you shall say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Yisra’el, or of
the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,
Lev 17:9 And brings it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto
YHWH; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
Lev 17:10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Yisra’el, or of the strangers that sojourn
among you, that eats any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eats
blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to
make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.
Lev 17:12 Therefore I said unto the children of Yisra’el, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither
shall any stranger that sojourns among you eat blood.
Lev 17:13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Yisra’el, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunts and catches any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall
even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
Lev 17:14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto
the children of Yisra’el, You shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh
is the blood thereof: whosoever eats it shall be cut off.
Lev 17:15 And every soul that eats that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts,
whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and
bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.
Lev 17:16 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his lawlessness.

in their ordinances.
Lev 18:4 You shall do my judgments, and keep my ordinances, to walk therein: I am YHWH
your Elohim.
Lev 18:5 You shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall

whether she be born at home, or born abroad, their nakedness you shall not uncover.
Lev 18:10 The nakedness of your son’s daughter, or of your daughter’s daughter, their

Lev 18:11 The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of your father, she is your
sister, you shall not uncover her nakedness.

near kinswoman.

nakedness.

beside the other in her life.
Lev 18:19 Also you shall not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is
put apart for her uncleanness.

woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
Lev 18:24 Defile not you yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled
which I cast out before you:
Lev 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the lawlessness thereof upon it, and the
land itself vomits out her inhabitants.
Lev 18:26 You shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of
these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourns among
you:
Lev 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you,
and the land is defiled;)
Lev 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when you defile it, as it spued out the nations
that were before you.
Lev 18:29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit

Haftarah (Shabbat Evening Portion)

Eze 20:2 Then came the word of YHWH unto me, saying,
Eze 20:3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Yisra’el, and say unto them, Thus saith YHWH
Elohim; Are you come to enquire of me? As I live, saith YHWH Elohim, I will not be
enquired of by you.
Eze 20:4 Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? cause them to know the
abominations of their fathers:
Eze 20:5 And say unto them, Thus saith YHWH Elohim; In the day when I chose Yisra’el, and
lifted up my hand unto the seed of the house of Ya’akov, and made myself known unto them
in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up my hand unto them, saying, I am YHWH your Elohim;
Eze 20:6 In the day that I lifted up my hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt
into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all
lands:
Eze 20:7 Then said I unto them, Cast you away every man the abominations of his eyes, and
defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am YHWH your Elohim.
Eze 20:8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man
cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I
said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst
of the land of Egypt.
Eze 20:9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen,
among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them
forth out of the land of Egypt.
Eze 20:10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into
the wilderness.
Eze 20:11 And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which if a man do, he
shall even live in them.
Eze 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they
might know that I am YHWH that sanctify them.
Eze 20:13 But the house of Yisra’el rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my
statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and
my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the
wilderness, to consume them.
Eze 20:14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen,
in whose sight I brought them out.
Eze 20:15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them
into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all
lands;
Eze 20:16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my
sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
Eze 20:17 Nevertheless my eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of
them in the wilderness.
Eze 20:18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk you not in the statutes of your
fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:
Eze 20:19 I am YHWH your Elohim; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do
them;
Eze 20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may
know that I am YHWH your Elohim.
