Parashat Text with Readers and Daily Portions (Reader 1 Starts on Saturday Evening)
Ekev “If”
Deut 7:12 – 11:25 , Isaiah 49:14 – 51:3
Reader 1 (Saturday Evening Portion)
Deu 7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if you hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do
them, that YHWH your Elohim shall keep unto you the covenant and the mercy which He
swore unto your fathers:
Deu 7:13 And He will love you, and bless you, and multiply you: He will also bless the fruit of
your womb, and the fruit of your land, your grain, and your wine, and your oil, the increase
of your oxen, and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which He swore unto your fathers to
give you.
Deu 7:14 You shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among
you, or among your beasts.
Deu 7:15 And YHWH will take away from you all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases
of Mitzrayim, which you know, upon you; but will lay them upon all them that hate you.
Deu 7:16 And you shall consume * all the people which YHWH your Elohim shall deliver you;
your eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shall you serve * their elohim; for that will be
a snare unto you.
Deu 7:17 If you shall say in your heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess
them?
Deu 7:18 You shall not be afraid of them: but shall well remember * what YHWH your Elohim
did unto Par’oh, and unto all Mitzrayim;
Deu 7:19 The great temptations which your eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the
mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby YHWH your Elohim brought you out: so
shall YHWH your Elohim do unto all the people of whom you are afraid.
Deu 7:20 Moreover YHWH your Elohim will send * the hornet among them, until they that are
left, and hide themselves from you, be destroyed.
Deu 7:21 You shall not be afraid of them: for YHWH your Elohim is among you, a mighty
Elohim and terrible.
(Sunday Morning Portion)
Deu 7:22 And YHWH your Elohim will put out * those nations before you by little and little:
you may not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon you.
Deu 7:23 But YHWH your Elohim shall deliver them unto you, and shall destroy them with a
mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
Deu 7:24 And He shall deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy * their name
from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed
them.
Deu 7:25 The graven images of their elohim shall you burn with fire: you shall not desire the
silver or gold on them, nor take it unto you, lest you be snared therein: for it is an
abomination to YHWH your Elohim.
Deu 7:26 Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing
like it: you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Deu 8:1 All the commandments which I command you this day shall you observe to do, that you
may live, and multiply, and go in and possess * the land which YHWH swore unto your
fathers.
Deu 8:2 And you shall remember * all the way which YHWH your Elohim led you these forty
years in the wilderness, to humble you, to prove you, to know * what was in your heart,
whether you would keep His commandments, or not.
Deu 8:3 And He humbled you, and suffered you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you
knew not, neither did your fathers know; that He might make you know that man does not
live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of YHWH does man
live.
Deu 8:4 Your raiment waxed not old upon you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.
Deu 8:5 You shall also consider in your heart, that, as a man chastens * his son, so YHWH your
Elohim chastens you.
Deu 8:6 Therefore you shall keep * the commandments of YHWH your Elohim, to walk in His
ways, and to fear Him.
Deu 8:7 For YHWH your Elohim brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of
fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
Deu 8:8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil
olive, and honey;
Deu 8:9 A land wherein you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack any thing in
it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper.
Deu 8:10 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless * YHWH your Elohim for the
good land which He has given you.
Reader 2 (Sunday Evening Portion)
Deu 8:11 Beware that you forget not * YHWH your Elohim, in not keeping His commandments,
and His judgments, and His statutes, which I command you this day:
Deu 8:12 Lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and dwelt
therein;
Deu 8:13 And your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied,
and all that you have is multiplied;
Deu 8:14 Then your heart be lifted up, and you forget * YHWH your Elohim, which brought you
forth out of the land of Mitzrayim, from the house of bondage;
Deu 8:15 Who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents,
and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought you forth water out of
the rock of flint;
Deu 8:16 Who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers knew not, that He
might humble you, and that He might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;
(Monday Morning Portion)
Deu 8:17 And you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me * this
wealth.
Deu 8:18 But you shall remember * YHWH your Elohim: for it is He that gives you power to get
wealth, that He may establish * His covenant which He swore unto your fathers, as it is this
day.
Deu 8:19 And it shall be, if you do at all forget * YHWH your Elohim, and walk after other
elohim, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall
surely perish.
Deu 8:20 As the nations which YHWH destroyed before your face, so shall you perish; because
you would not be obedient unto the voice of YHWH your Elohim.
Deu 9:1 Hear, O Yisra’el: You are to pass over * Yarden this day, to go in to possess nations
greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
Deu 9:2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you
have heard said, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
Deu 9:3 Understand therefore this day, that YHWH your Elohim is He which goes over before
you; as a consuming fire He shall destroy them, and He shall bring them down before your
face: so shall you drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as YHWH has said unto you.
Reader 3 (Monday Evening Portion)
Deu 9:4 Speak not you in your heart, after that YHWH your Elohim has cast them out * from
before you, saying, For my righteousness YHWH has brought me in to possess * this land:
but for the wickedness of these nations YHWH does drive them out from before you.
Deu 9:5 Not for your righteousness, or for the uprightness of your heart, do you go to possess *
their land: but for the wickedness of these nations YHWH your Elohim does drive them out
from before you, and that He may perform * the word which YHWH swore unto your
fathers, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Ya’akov.
Deu 9:6 Understand therefore, that YHWH your Elohim gives you not * this good land to
possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiffnecked people.
Deu 9:7 Remember, and forget not, * how you provoked * YHWH your Elohim to wrath in the
wilderness: from the day that you did depart out of the land of Mitzrayim, until you came
unto this place, you have been rebellious against YHWH.
Deu 9:8 Also in Chorev you provoked * YHWH to wrath, so that YHWH was angry with you to
have destroyed you.
Deu 9:9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the
covenant which YHWH made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty
nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
Deu 9:10 And YHWH delivered unto me * two tables of stone written with the finger of Elohim;
and on them was written according to all the words, which YHWH spoke with you in the
mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
Deu 9:11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, YHWH gave me the two
tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.
Deu 9:12 And YHWH said unto me, Arise, get you down quickly from here; for your people
which you have brought forth out of Mitzrayim have corrupted themselves; they are quickly
turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten
image.
Deu 9:13 Furthermore YHWH spoke unto me, saying, I have seen * this people, and, behold, it
is a stiffnecked people:
Deu 9:14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out * their name from under heaven:
and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.
Deu 9:15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the
two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
Deu 9:16 And I looked, and, behold, you had sinned against YHWH your Elohim, and had
made you a molten calf: you had turned aside quickly out of the way which YHWH had
commanded you.
Deu 9:17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before
your eyes.
Deu 9:18 And I fell down before YHWH, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither
eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which you sinned, in doing wickedly in
the sight of YHWH, to provoke Him to anger.
Deu 9:19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith YHWH was wroth
against you to destroy you. But YHWH hearkened unto me at that time also.
Deu 9:20 And YHWH was very angry with Aharon to have destroyed him: and I prayed for
Aharon also the same time.
Deu 9:21 And I took your sin, * the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and
stamped it, and ground it very small, until it was as small as dust: and I cast * the dust
thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
(Tuesday Morning Portion)
Deu 9:22 And at Tav’erah, and at Massah, and at Kivrot-Hatta’avah, you provoked * YHWH to
wrath.
Deu 9:23 Likewise when YHWH sent you from Kadesh-Barnea, saying, Go up and possess * the
land which I have given you; then you rebelled against * the commandment of YHWH your
Elohim, and you believed Him not, nor hearkened to His voice.
Deu 9:24 You have been rebellious against YHWH from the day that I knew you.
Deu 9:25 Thus I fell down before YHWH * forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first;
because YHWH had said He would destroy you.
Deu 9:26 I prayed therefore unto YHWH, and said, O Adonai YHWH, destroy not your people
and your inheritance, which you have redeemed through your greatness, which you have
brought forth out of Mitzrayim with a mighty hand.
Deu 9:27 Remember your servants, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Ya’akov; look not unto the
stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
Deu 9:28 Lest the land where you brought us out say, Because YHWH was not able to bring
them into the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought
them out to slay them in the wilderness.
Deu 9:29 Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your mighty
power and by your stretched out arm.
Reader 4 (Tuesday Evening Portion)
Deu 10:1 At that time YHWH said unto me, Hew you two tables of stone like unto the first, and
come up unto me into the mount, and make you an ark of wood.
Deu 10:2 And I will write on the tables * the words that were in the first tables which you broke,
and you shall put them in the ark.
Deu 10:3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first,
and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.
Deu 10:4 And He wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, * the ten commandments,
which YHWH spoke unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the
assembly: and YHWH gave them unto me.
Deu 10:5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put * the tables in the ark
which I had made; and there they be, as YHWH commanded me.
(Wednesday Morning Portion)
Deu 10:6 And the children of Yisra’el took their journey from Be’erot of the children of Ya’akan
to Moserah: there Aharon died, and there he was buried; and El’azar his son ministered in
the priest’s office in his stead.
Deu 10:7 From there they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Yotvatah, a land of
rivers of waters.
Deu 10:8 At that time YHWH separated * the tribe of Levi, to bear * the ark of the covenant of
YHWH, to stand before YHWH to minister unto Him, and to bless in His name, unto this
day.
Deu 10:9 Wherefore Levi has no part nor inheritance with his brethren; YHWH is his
inheritance, according as YHWH your Elohim promised him.
Deu 10:10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights;
and YHWH hearkened unto me at that time also, and YHWH would not destroy you.
Deu 10:11 And YHWH said unto me, Arise, take your journey before the people, that they may
go in and possess * the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give unto them.
Reader 5 (Wednesday Evening Portion)
Deu 10:12 And now, Yisra’el, what does YHWH your Elohim require of you, but to fear *
YHWH your Elohim, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve * YHWH your
Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deu 10:13 To keep * the commandments of YHWH, and His statutes, which I command you
this day for your good?
Deu 10:14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is YHWH your Elohim’s, the earth ,
with all that therein is.
Deu 10:15 Only YHWH had a delight in your fathers to love them, and He chose their seed after
them, you above all people, as it is this day.
Deu 10:16 Circumcise therefore * the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
Deu 10:17 For YHWH your Elohim is Elohim of elohim, and Adone of Adone, a great El, a
mighty, and a terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes bribes:
Deu 10:18 He does execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in
giving him food and raiment.
Deu 10:19 Love you therefore * the stranger: for you were strangers in the land of Mitzrayim.
Deu 10:20 You shall fear * YHWH your Elohim; Him shall you serve, and to Him shall you
cleave, and swear by His name.
Deu 10:21 He is your praise, and He is your Elohim, that has done for you * these great and
terrible things, which your eyes have seen.
(Thursday Morning Portion)
Deu 10:22 Your fathers went down into Mitzrayim with seventy people; and now YHWH your
Elohim has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.
Deu 11:1 Therefore you shall love * YHWH your Elohim, and keep His charge, and His statutes,
and His judgments, and His commandments, always.
Deu 11:2 And know you this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and
which have not seen * the chastisement of YHWH your Elohim *, His greatness, * His
mighty hand, and His stretched out arm,
Deu 11:3 And His miracles, and His acts, which He did in the midst of Mitzrayim unto Par’oh
the king of Mitzrayim, and unto all his land;
Deu 11:4 And what He did unto the army of Mitzrayim, unto their horses, and to their chariots;
how He made * the water of the Sea of Suf to overflow them as they pursued after you, and
how YHWH has destroyed them unto this day;
Deu 11:5 And what He did unto you in the wilderness, until you came into this place;
Deu 11:6 And what He did unto Datan and Aviram, the sons of Eli’av, the son of Re’uven: how
the earth opened * her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their
tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Yisra’el:
Deu 11:7 But your eyes have seen * all the great acts of YHWH which He did.
Deu 11:8 Therefore shall you keep * all the commandments which I command you this day, that
you may be strong, and go in and possess * the land, where you go to possess it;
Deu 11:9 And that you may prolong your days in the land, which YHWH swore unto your
fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that flows with milk and honey.
Reader 6 (Thursday Evening Portion)
Deu 11:10 For the land, where you go in to possess it, is not as the land of Mikkjtzrayim, from
where you came out, where you sowed * your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a
garden of herbs:
Deu 11:11 But the land, where you go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinks
water of the rain of heaven:
Deu 11:12 A land which YHWH your Elohim cares for: the eyes of YHWH your Elohim are
always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
Deu 11:13 And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto my commandments
which I command you this day, to love * YHWH your Elohim, and to serve Him with all your
heart and with all your soul,
Deu 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter
rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your wine, and your oil.
Deu 11:15 And I will send grass in your fields for your cattle, that you may eat and be full.
Deu 11:16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and you turn aside, and
serve other elohim, and worship them;
Deu 11:17 And then YHWH’S wrath be kindled against you, and He shut up * the heaven, that
there be no rain, and that the land yield not * her fruit; and you perish quickly from off the
good land which YHWH gives you.
Deu 11:18 Therefore shall you lay up * these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind
them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
Deu 11:19 And you shall teach them * your children, speaking of them when you sit in your
house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Deu 11:20 And you shall write them upon the door posts of your house, and upon your gates:
Deu 11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which
YHWH swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Reader 7 (6th Day Friday Morning Double Portion)
Deu 11:22 For if you shall diligently keep * all these commandments which I command you, to
do them, to love * YHWH your Elohim, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave unto Him;
Deu 11:23 Then will YHWH drive out * all these nations from before you, and you shall possess
greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Deu 11:24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the
wilderness and Levanon, from the river, the river Perat, even unto the uttermost sea shall
your coast be.
Deu 11:25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for YHWH your Elohim shall lay the
fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread upon, as He has said
unto you.
Haftarah (Shabbat Evening Portion)
Isa 49:14 But Tziyon said, YHWH has forsaken me, and my Adonai has forgotten me.
Isa 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the
son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget you.
Isa 49:16 Behold, I have graven you upon the palms of my hands; your walls are continually
before me.
Isa 49:17 Your children shall make haste; your destroyers and they that made you waste shall
go forth of you.
Isa 49:18 Lift up your eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and
come to you. As I live, saith YHWH, you shall surely clothe you with them all, as with an
ornament, and bind them on you, as a bride does.
Isa 49:19 For your waste and your desolate places, and the land of your destruction, shall even
now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed you up shall be far
away.
Isa 49:20 The children which you shall have, after you have lost the other, shall say again in
your ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
Isa 49:21 Then shall you say in your heart, Who has begotten me * these, seeing I have lost my
children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who has brought up
these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
Isa 49:22 Thus says YHWH Elohim, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my
standard to the people: and they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters
shall be carried upon their shoulders.
Isa 49:23 And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: they
shall bow down to you with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet; and
you shall know that I am YHWH: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
Isa 49:24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
Isa 49:25 But thus says YHWH, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the
prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contends with you,
and I will save your children.
Isa 49:26 And I will feed * them that oppress you with * their own flesh; and they shall be
drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I YHWH am
your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Ya’akov.
Isa 50:1 Thus says YHWH, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put
away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your lawlessness
have you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
Isa 50:2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer?
Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at
my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinks, because there is
no water, and dies for thirst.
Isa 50:3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
Isa 50:4 YHWH Elohim has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to
speak a word in season to * him that is weary: He wakens morning by morning, He wakens
my ear to hear as the learned.
Isa 50:5 YHWH Elohim has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isa 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid
not my face from shame and spitting.
Isa 50:7 For YHWH Elohim will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I
set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Isa 50:8 He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is
my adversary? let him come near to me.
Isa 50:9 Behold, YHWH Elohim will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all
shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
Isa 50:10 Who is among you that fears YHWH, that obeys the voice of his servant, that walks in
darkness, and has no light? let him trust in the name of YHWH, and stay upon his Elohim.
Isa 50:11 Behold, all you that kindle a fire, that compass about with sparks: walk in the light of
your fire, and in the sparks that you have kindled. This shall you have of my hand; you shall
lie down in sorrow.
Isa 51:1 Hearken to me, you that follow after righteousness, you that seek YHWH: look unto the
rock from where you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from where you are digged.
Isa 51:2 Look unto Avraham your father, and unto Sarah that bore you: for I called him alone,
and blessed him, and increased him.
Isa 51:3 For YHWH shall comfort Tziyon: He will comfort all her waste places; and He will
make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of YHWH; joy and gladness
shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
